The 2020 Scottish Cup Finals weekend is nearly upon us and in this years U18 final your Lady Rocks will take on central-Scotland rivals, Sony Centre Falkirk Fury! It has been a strong season so far for the U18 Lady Rocks, and in the lead up to final we have caught the views of their Head Coach, Nadele Strain-
How would you describe the overall Scottish Cup journey so far?
"We played Polonia and Perth in the lead up to reaching the finals. Our semi-final against
Perth was a hard fought game and everything you would expect from a cup semi final. I
am excited for the players in reaching another final in what will be for some their last U18
Scottish Cup Journey, but certainly not their last of Scottish Cup journeys."
Has your match preparations changed at all in the lead up to this Final?
"Our preparations haven’t changed much, we have increased our training but this is due
to availability of coaches and players. It has helped having more time together as a
team, the majority of our team play for the U16 Women and Senior teams as well so these girls have
numerous sessions with the different age groups throughout the week. As a
team we keep pushing each other week in week out, always trying to get to the next
level. Our intensity the past two weeks at training has been taken to another level and I
am just looking for the girls to continue that throughout the remainder of the season."
What sort of match are you expecting?
"A Cup Final is always an exciting match, the first 5 minutes of the game I expect to be a little
hectic – it always is, until the players settle down. It’s not going to be easy, we are
undefeated and Fury will be looking to be the first team to take us down. I expect our
girls to go out and leave everything on the floor, but most importantly I want them to
enjoy it, not everyone gets to experience a cup final so they need to enjoy every
moment, they deserve it."
What are the keys to the game for the Lady Rocks to be successful?
"Do the simple things brilliantly! I say this to the girls all the time and that has been the
key to our success so far. So nothing will change for finals – we keep it simple!"
Any extra comments/words for the fans?
"To all our Lady Rock Fans we thank you and we ask for this final for you to be
even louder (if that is even possible). Bring the noise; bring as many drums as you
can, even home-made ones! Pots and a wooden spoon will do the trick – expenses
spared. #DrumGate. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday at the Lagoon
to cheer on the U18 Women who look to bring home their first piece of Silverware of the 2019/2020 season!! And as always... #OurTeamIsEverything!"
