Saturday 10th November and your Lady Rocks were on the road as they prepared to take on Glasgow Fever, a side who were fresh off a massive Scottish Cup victory only 3 days earlier! On paper this had the makings of a great game. A win today would put the Rocks 2 points clear at the top and the pressure firmly on City of Edinburgh, albeit probably for a short period of time.
The Lady Rocks started fast out of the blocks creating lots of opportunities on the offensive end of the floor, all created by strong defensive rotations. The shots, however, were not falling early on as the Lady Rocks went 1-7 to start the game in the first 2 minutes. Thankfully, our defence held Fever scoreless.
After a nervous start, the Lady Rocks started to find their feet as a Gilbride 3 jump started the offence as the Rocks raced out to an early 7-0 lead forcing Fever into a timeout.
Coming out of the timeout, former Lady Rock Khera Ross gave Fever their first points of the game with a low post hook shot. From here, Fever would begin to mount their offensive assault as they brought the match back within 1 point. Lady Rocks would continue to force the issue by getting to the basket but multiple failed attempts allowed Fever to stay in the game.
After a late Q1 timeout from the Lady Rocks, Captain Nadele Strain would make her first appearance of the match. Strain made an immediate impact by contesting shots in the key and pulling down multiple rebounds that would allow the Cumbernauld side to kick start their offence early.
A late quarter steal, heroic save and pass from McKeown to Faleu who would convert for 2 would allow the Rocks to go into the end of quarter break with the narrow lead.
END Q1 | Glasgow Fever 11-12 Lady Rocks
The Lady Rocks started the 2nd quarter as they did the 1st, playing with a fast tempo but failing to execute on their first 4 attempts at the basket. The match also started to become more physical as the Lady Rocks committed three straight defensive fouls in the first one minute and 33 seconds of the quarter.
Fever would take advantage of their free-throws to take a narrow 1 point lead, however this wouldn't last for long as the Lady Rocks immediately broke up the court finding a wind open Faleu for 2. Lead back in favour of the Lady Rocks!
Mid-way through the 2nd quarter the Lady Rocks would go scoreless for a period of 5 minutes and 19 seconds. This allowed Fever to stay in the match, eventually regaining a two point lead on the Lady Rocks. Timeout Lady Rocks.
Coming out of the timeout, the Rocks got the ball to Strain who drove strong down the key for 2, score now tied! Great defensive rotation on the following play would allow the Rocks to steal the ball and break up court. Strain would miss the first attempt, however would out-rebound and score over three Fever defenders to give the Rocks the lead! The away support were on their feet!

Gilbride opened the scoring in Q3 for the Lady Rocks with a nice euro-step layup extending our lead to 6. Scrappy two minutes of play saw Fever struggle to score and Rocks continue to increase their lead, the score now 26-18 in favour of the Lady Rocks.
Coming out of a Lady Rocks timeout, the ladies moved the ball well on offence, eventually finding a wide open Van Wees for two from a backdoor cut. Fever try to reply on the offensive end of the floor but are called for an offensive foul. Timeout Fever.
Our lead would continue to increase late Q3 as the Rocks continue to take their time on offence, moving the ball and finding an open Martin for 2 points on the low block. Fever, however, weren't to be outdone as they put together a run of consecutive 3-point scores to stay in the game.
END Q3 | Glasgow Fever 26-36 Lady Rocks
Gibride once again gained the 1st points for the Rocks to start the quarter, knocking down a deep 3-point shot. In fact, this was to be the case on the following two possessions as the Lady Rocks forced back-to-back turnovers leading to a further two 3-point scores. Timeout Fever!
Lady Rocks come out of the timeout, steal the ball on defence from a Haldane block, break up the court to find a wide open Van Wees for 3, the fourth in a row for the Lady Rocks! Timeout called once again for Fever.
Fever weren't going away as they tried to reduce their deficit, but strong defensive rotations and defensive rebounding from the Lady Rocks, all leading to easy fast breaks, allowed the Cumbernauld side to maintain a comfortable lead.
