Van Wees signs for Lady Rocks!

With the start of the 2018/19 season merely weeks away, today the Lady Rocks are delighted to announce the signing of Scotland internationalist, Yhana Van Wees!  


A young emerging star on the Scottish basketball scene, Yhana joins the Lady Rocks after having a breakout season last year with Scottish rivals, Tayside Musketeers! During the 2017/2018 season Yhana averaged 24 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks per game!


We recently caught up with Yhana to find out her thoughts on join the Lady Rocks-


How does it feel to become a Lady Rock?

"I've only played with Tayside Musketeers to date, so playing for the Lady Rocks will be an exciting opportunity and I'm looking forward to Opening Night!"



Tell us a bit more about your playing career to date?

"I've been playing basketball since I was 14 years old, starting out at Arbroath High School. Throughout my career I've also played for Tayside Musketeers and represented Scotland in the European Championships at U16, U18 and Senior Women levels."


 What do you see the goals being for the Lady Rocks this season?

"I think we stand a good chance at winning all three titles this year, and I would like to be a part of that!


Do you have a message for the Lady Rocks fans?

"I look forward to seeing everyone courtside on the 31st for Opening Night and I hope we can give you an exciting game to watch!"


Yhana will now join an already strengthened core of home grown Lady Rocks players as the club looks to end its soon to be 7-year drought for silverware at the Senior Women level, the top flight for women's basketball in Scotland.


Lady Rocks fans will be able to see Yhana live in person when she and her fellow teammates take to the court on Opening Night on Friday 31st August, 8pm at St Maurice's High School.
