Today after months of planning and preparation, the Lady Rocks in partnership with Baird Memorial Primary School launched the pilot phase of our new Lady Rocks Get Active initiative!
The new programme focusses on four key areas:
Though these four key areas the programme will look to improve female participation within basketball, increase the membership of the Lady Rocks, promote the positive female role models within the Lady Rocks ultimately giving young girls someone to aspire to be like, and developing skills for life!
From today's girls-only taster basketball sessions the club and school will now offer an initial 5-week Lady Rocks Get Active afterschool block to further engage P4-P7 age girls in basketball, with the long-term hope of sustaining a Lady Rocks Get Active participation centre at Baird Memorial Primary School!
"We're absolutely delighted to see the pilot phase of our new Lady Rocks Get Active initiative take off in partnership with Baird Memorial Primary School! It's important that we as a club, and school staff, do everything we can to encourage girls and young women to maintain high levels of physical activity, and in this case, through the sport of basketball! Both the Lady Rocks and Baird Memorial PS are looking forward to seeing how this new programme grows over the coming weeks and months, ultimately providing a positive learning experience to the young girls who participate!" - Josh Anderson, Lady Rocks Club Development Officer.
