Easter Camp a Rocking Success!

April 15, 2018

Our Gladiator Rocks youth programme delivered yet another successful Easter Basketball Camp this year to 33 boys & girls! The camp, which was delivered on 12th & 13th April at St Maurice's HS, focussed on improving the fundamental skills of the young people, their overall match play in addition to having lots of fun!

Another key aim of this camp was the promotion of the Rocks role models, allowing the individuals to share their stories, answer questions and even lead in some basketball activities with the young people. The two role models in attendance were Erin Gilbride [Lady Rocks] and Warren Gillies [Glasgow Rocks].

Day 1 saw recently re-signed Lady Rocks star, Erin Gilbride, attend camp to meet with the young players. Erin talked about her basketball journey to this point, the importance of working hard and enjoying sport!

From here Erin answered some question before taking part in some basketball matches, a shooting competition and even tasking the players on creating a team chant!

Day 2 saw Warren Gillis of the Glasgow Rocks attend camp as our next role model! Warren, like Erin, shared about his journey through basketball to this point, sharing some stories of what it is like being a pro athlete before answering some questions. From there, Warren then took part in

some basketball drills with the young people before signing autographs and posing for pictures!

One delighted parent had this to say- "My two children absolutely loved attending the Easter Camp; thank you to the Rocks team for organising this!"
