formerly known as Lady Rocks and JRW Gladiators
JRW (John Robert Wooden) Gladiators was founded in 2006 by Lisa Palombo and the late Jim Lay and played the first three years under this name. Our motto, ‘Excellence is a habit’!
In 2009, the club was approached by former Glasgow Rocks owner, Ian Reid, to become associated partners to his pro team. Although continuing to work independently, JRW Gladiators changed its name to Lady Rocks.
Lady Rocks, worked to become one of the leading female basketball clubs in Scotland, with teams playing and competing within the Scottish Basketball Championship with the following:
Lady Rocks also provided opportunity for girls aged 7-12 years to develop within their community development pathway, with U12 age group competing within the Regional Development League.
Our club, has been run by a small group of volunteers, who have made it their mission to push the ambition of our club and players. We work with the motif, ‘Our Team Is Everything’. Being a person-centred club is one of our proudest achievements.
Our biggest supporters, Alison and Steve Timoney, have been our key sponsors since 2006, ensuring our club and players were never under resourced; a privilege we will be eternally grateful for. No words could ever express the depth of our thanks.
